Gov’t opens Public Pharmacies
The need of Misamisnons in availing cheaper but quality
drugs and medicines has been answered. This comes with the implementation
of Misamis Occidental Governor Loreto Leo Ocampos’ Health Sector
Reform Agenda (HSRA).
Probably
one of the outstanding achievements of the Ocampos Administration, the
HSRA will address the basic health concerns of Misamisnons, particularly
the less-privileged ones. The said health program focuses on four (4)
main components: (1) Social Insurance; (2) Drug Management; (3) Hospital
Reforms; and (4) Public Health.
The HSRA is an answer to the pressing need of Misamisnons to cheaper
and affordable, but quality drugs and medicines. The Provincial Government
through the help of the Provincial Health Office has installed PUBLIC
PHARMACIES to three government hospitals. These pharmacies are at the
Calamba District Hospital (CDH) in Calamba Town; the Doña Maria
D. Tan Memorial Hospital in Tangub City; and the Misamis Occidental
Provincial Hospital (MOPH) in Oroquieta City.
These Public Pharmacies are able to sell drugs and medicines “so
much cheaper” than what the other drug stores and counters sell.
“This key development was realized through the Parallel Drug Importation,”
a Provincial Health official said.
