PALS
help provide water systems to Misamisnons
Through the strong initiative of our beloved Governor
Loreto Leo Ocampos, the Program Development Facility – Philippine-Australia
Local Sustainability (PDF-PALS) approved the P13M assistance package
for the province of Misamis Occidental.
This funding will generate viable and sustainable high-impact programs
for the Misamisnons. This will prioritize water system development projects
of the Provincial Government – which has committed a counterpart
of P1.2M as a crucial part of the package.
This project will involve a three-phased P11M water systems development
project determined through the conduct of intensive province-wide consultations
and validations among the Barangay Captains, non-governmental organizations,
and local chief executives.
The first phase of the project that costs about P3M will positively
affect 601 households in seven (7) barangays in the municipalities of
Baliangao, Calamba, and Sapang Dalaga.
Meanwhile, the PDF-PALS program has also reached-out to the cause of
women in the province. In fact, as a positive endeavor towards gender
development, the current thrust of the Provincial Government to institute
an increased participation of women in the affairs of government has
already involved seven (7) women’s organizations in the project
management.
This project aims not only to impact Misamisnons in terms of providing
one of the most basic resources in life, but also giving opportunities
for women to be involved and be able to participate in legacy building.
