OWWA
sets up desk in Governor’s Office
by Karl Imanoel Aoanan
Families,
relatives, and loved-ones of Overseas Filipino Workers from the Province
of Misamis Occidental now have an office to turn to regarding their
concerns, and other needs.
Committed
to its mission in developing and implementing responsive programs and
services, while ensuring fund viability, towards the protection of the
interest and promotion of the welfare of its member-OFWs, the Overseas
Workers Administration (OWWA) through its regional office in Cagayan
de Oro City has detailed a Community Development Officer in the Provincial
Governor’s Office of Misamis Occidental in Oroquieta City.
The
new OWWA desk officer detailed at the Governor’s Office will extend
the delivery of OWWA’s programs and services to Overseas Filipino
Workers (OFWs) and their families in the province. The new desk attaché
will also receive and answer questions, and take appropriate actions
on received reports for assistance or welfare care assistance like (1)
Request for whereabouts; (2) Reported maltreatment, non-payment of salaries;
and (3) other assistance for OFWs.
“I
am very thankful with this new development, now we can reach out more
to our constituents, particularly the OFWs,” Governor Loreto Leo
Ocampos said.
With
OWWA’s expansion in the province, OFWs and their families will
now be able to avail social insurance benefits, loan assistance, education
and training, social services and family welfare assistance as mandated
by the Omnibus Policies of the OWWA.
The
desk officer will be available starting this month, and will be stationed
in the Governor’s Office from Tuesdays to Thursdays of every last
week of the month.
