Gov’t ties-up with medical partners
The Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental under
the leadership of our beloved Governor Loreto Leo Ocampos has cemented
a partnership with medical institutions in the province to improve the
health services sector.
The Misamis University Medical Center (MUMC) and the Misamis Occidental
Medical Partners (MOMP) had taken up the challenge of responding to
the call of the Governor for medical institutions in the province to
join hands in providing, and bringing cheap, affordable, but quality
medical services to the populace.
The acquisition of a CT Scanner of the MUMC has been the forerunner
and major achievement of this partnership. A CT Scanner, also known
as CAT Scanner, is a diagnostic X-ray scan; a diagnostic, medical, radiological
scan in which cross-sectional images of a part of the body are formed
through computerized axial tomography and shown on a computer screen.
Before this acquisition of this equipment, Misamisnons have to travel
to Cebu just to avail the services of a CT Scanner. Now, with the partnership,
they can already avail of it at the MUMC, in Ozamiz City. In this way,
our brothers and sisters will be freed from a high financial burden
whenever they need to avail of such expensive equipment.
With the funds pooled from the Provincial Government, indigenous citizens
of Misamis can now avail of this medical and technological breakthrough
in treating their diseases and illnesses. The CT Scan Center at MUMC
will accord them up to 20% discount on the use of this machine. This
of course is subject to the recommendation, and endorsement from the
Provincial Government.
“These patients, who are most of the time our less fortunate brothers
and sisters from the remote barangays of our province, will be provided
and assisted with their medical needs because we have identified the
fact that they have no means of paying for proper medical attention
and medication. This one of our thrusts,” Governor Ocampos said.
Having access to a discounted CT Scan which used to be a costly travel
to Cebu is such a blessing to all Misamisnons. Gov. Leo Ocampos hopes
that with the availability of the Ct Scan at the MUMC in the province,
there will be early diagnoses of certain illnesses of our fellow Misamisnons.
And with this, patients will be given more time in getting treatment
of such illnesses at the soonest possible time.
