Gov
Ocampos prioritizes livelihood projects
Aside from the Misamis Occidental Enterprise Development
and Research Center (MOEDRC), Misamis Occidental Governor Loreto Leo
Ocampos has also worked hard for another livelihood enhancement program
for the Misamisnons.
This is despite the fact that there are various on-going construction
projects being undertaken by the Provincial Government to jack up the
economic condition of the province, Governor Ocampos is also giving
paramount concern of improving the livelihood of the Misamisnons as
one of the means to attain the quest for better life.
To complement this effort, the Misamis Occidental Artificial Breeding
Center (MOABC) in Tudela town was instituted, and is now actively operating
to cater the livestock needs of our people. The center provides easy
access to farmers for artificial insemination of their swine, cattle
and carabao. Moreover, the center gives medication to various diseases
of animals and disperses piglets to farmer-beneficiaries.
MOABC was able to serve the needs of thirty-one livestock raiser for
the month of March, another thirty-one livestock raisers for the month
of April and thirty-five livestock raisers for month of May last year.
Most of the recipients are residents of the different barangays in Tudela
and the others were constituents of Bonifacio, Ozamiz City, Clarin,
Sinacaban, Jimenez, Pana-on, and Aloran.
Loss of appetite, scouring, pneumonia, flue and ephemeral fever were
the common diseases of animals that were treated by the center. Presently,
MOABC has five (5) breeding boar and another five breeding sow. It has
also twenty-seven (27) existing piglets, nineteen (19) of which are
already weaned and ready for dispersal.
With all these accomplishments, MOABC is considered a fountain of benefits
for the province’s livestock raisers.
