Public
Pharmacies…
…providing accessible and cheap medicines
One of the most
outstanding achievements of the Ocampos Administration is the implementation
of the Health Sector Reform Agenda (HSRA), which addresses the basic
health concerns of the Misamisnons especially the less-privileged
ones. The HISRA focuses itself on four (4) main components namely
the (1) Social Insurance; (2) Drug Management; (3) Hospital Reforms;
and (4) Public Health.
To answer the need for cheaper drugs and medicines, the Provincial
Government through the Provincial Health Office installed PUBLIC PHARMACIES
to three (3) Government Hospitals namely the Calamba District Hospital;
the Doña Maria D. Tan Memorial Hospital in Tangub City; and
the Misamis Occidental Provincial Hospital in Oroquieta City.
Through the Parallel Drug Importation, these Public Pharmacies will
be able to sell drugs and medicines “very much cheaper”
that what is being sold at the drug counters. An antibiotic capsule
for example, which costs ten pesos, may now be bought at five to six
pesos.
