Calamba
Water System Project
by Honey Pearl A. Babar
Potable Water is basically what most Misamisnons have been longing for,
most especially in the remotest of the remote barangays of the province.
Such an essential need is uppermost in the mind of Governor Loreto Leo
Ocampos. To answer this most basic need, the Misamis Occidental Provincial
Government granted P4.8M to the municipal government of Calamba which
will fully assume and take over from the present entity that oversees
the water system project, the Misamis Occidental Water District (MOWD),
in order for the project to be facilitated, and the fast tracking of
its water system project in the municipality is ensured.
At present, the barangays of Solinog, Don Bernardo Neri, Southwestern
Poblacion, Northern Poblacion, Calaran, Bunawan, Magcamigning, have
already benefited from this water system project. It is expected that
with the assumption of the municipal government of Calamba of its own
water system project, Misamisnons in the municipality will now be assured
of more than satisfactory potable water.
To some barangays, an air-conditioned
and a computerized office are all that they need, but to many residents
who benefited from Tongo and Calamba Water System Projects, these are
more than a blessing and an answer of their long dream to be provided
of the basic need... WATER!
