From
the Governor
On
July 2001, we conceptualized the province’s governance blueprint
– THE CHAMPS. For almost three years, CHAMPS demonstrates how
our government programs reduced poverty and promoted peace and stability
in the province.
This year’s Governor’s Report tangibly spells out the unified
efforts of all the Provincial Officials in Misamis Occidental.
Given equal importance by this administrations are steps to improve
systems of governance ensuring sound macro and micro-economic policies
which are in place. Public institutions like MOAP, MOEDRC, Rehabilitation
Center and Provincial Housing Project are robust and that government
system are accountable.
The Provincial Government’s investments on various projects have
helped barangays improve economic status and have strengthened barangay
associations and democratic systems, operating with great accountability
and transparency, and entrench the rule of law. The IRA Sharing Scheme,
which has been implemented in various barangays as a way of implementing
projects is a concrete example of this process.
DEVELOPMENT is the byword of this administration, and development can
only be achieved when things are done without delay.
We have demonstrated that we are committed and able to respond effectively
to changes and have greatly made a difference in the lives of our people
especially the poor.
With the days ahead of us, the Province of Misamis Occidental -- THE
HOME OF THE CHAMPS will remain a proponent for progress contributing
effectively towards poverty reduction and long-term development.
