RDC – 10 Chair Gov. Loreto Leo Ocampos elected as Mindanao Representative to the Regional Development Committee

 
 
Regional Development Council –10 Chairman, Governor Loreto Leo S. Ocampos of the Province of Misamis Occidental is elected Mindanao Representative to the Regional Development Committee in an election held among six (6) RDC Chairmen in Mindanao at VIP Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City today, January 19, 2005.

Ocampos who seats as Regional Development Council –10 Chairman for two terms will now take the lead among six (6) regions in Mindanao including Misamis Occidental covering 25 provinces.

The six (6) regions covering the Regional Development Committee for Mindanao are as follows:

  • Region IX (Zamboanga Peninsula)
    Chaired by Gov. Rolando Yebes
    Zamboanga del Norte
  • Region X (Northern Mindanao)
    Chaired by Gov. Loreto Leo S. Ocampos
    Misamis Occidental
  • Region XI (Davao Region)
    Chaired by Atty. Jesus V. Ayala
    Business Sector Representative
  • Region XII (SOCSARGEN)
    Chaired by Gov. Daisy Avance-Fuentes
    South Cotabato
  • CARAGA Region
    Chaired by Gov. Adolph Eduard G. Plaza
    Agusan del Sur
  • ARMM
    Chaired by Gov. Parouk S. Hussin

As the Mindanao Representative, Ocampos’ major tasks would include the articulation of the Mindanao Development Plan so that the voice of Mindanao will be heard and will be given priority and attention; to harmonize the differences among various government agencies in Mindanao in consonance to the Mindanao development plan and agenda, and to coordinate efforts involving intra-extra regional concerns and development.

With Ocampos’ unquestionable commitment for development proven by his being awarded as the 2003 Most Outstanding Governor of the Philippines, many express hopes and prayers that the island of Mindanao which holds a potential role in the national development agenda can take further steps towards this end.
